One of the Proposal by Basedrive Pty. Ltd.
The age of convergence is upon us. Media and mediums will merge to create an interactive multimedia platform that is faster, easier and more efficient providing richer access to all.
The battle lines between “Lean Back Vs. Lean To” technologies will blur as people begin to lean back whilst working, watching and interacting with their new empowered TV set.
Australian company Basedrive Pty. Ltd, will provide the Australian and international marketplace with a wholly integrated hardware and software package that will transform the speed and efficiency of data transfer, delivery, usage and storage.
The package presented is geared towards the TV user, with emphasis on the products’ ease of use and operations. This technology will also provide the smart PC user with functionalities not experienced before keeping all our end users tuned in and online.
The first half of our package is a server side upgradeable digital set top box solution incorporating an IBM compatible (Windows CE or NT), open system with a non-propriety application program interface. It will feature a local hardrive delivering broadband and standard connectivity for advanced internet and local functionality.
These secure set top boxes will be connected via digital cable or DSL lines and/or the terrestrial frequency platform. The Set top box will support constant high speed internet access, free/pay and interactive television, secure online transactions, full telephony, video on demand, IP video conferencing, games and more, all from the convenience of a PC/TV set.
The end user will interface with the TV via an illuminated wireless keyboard/mouse, remote control, wireless headphones and speakerphone. The platform will allow for video mixing, picture in picture and other manipulations supporting interactive video features all whilst web browsing if desired.
The core to our technology lies with the second half of this first generation package.
Basedrive.com will be the data storage and server platform that will act as the entire systems communication hub. All information will be delivered through Basedrive which will be housed in various data warehousing centres.
With the introduction of the new broadband platforms traditional stand alone set top boxes or computers will not be able to handle or store the breadth of information that will soon be available in the marketplace. People will now own and/or have immediate access to their own information rich data or they may chose to hire, buy, subscribe/ license/pay to use or store all their information content. It is to this end that we have created Basedrive.
Basedrive is a self contained product designed to effectively store and distribute data throughout it’s available online subscriber customer base.
The consumer needs that will be meet by this product are:
Online storage of personal data;
This will provide a universally internet accessible place where consumers can manipulate and store their documents, multimedia files, address book information, etc. This application styled product will be provided to the user at a fee incorporated into their access fee for extra “mb” or “gb” storage for which the user will pay. Current data storage companies talk megabytes, our scenario will fall within the range of gigabyte storage.
Application storage area;
The application storage area is where content/software producers, will store their programs and buy/sell access privilege rights, commercially available software that is stored online (used from customers location). This will become one of the most significant elements of the basedrive integrated network system. This online storage model adds to the useability of software and it’s licensees. The consumer will be able to access their programs and information from where ever they can access “a internet connection”. Only the upstream and downstream speeds will vary as this is dependant on the connection platforms of the connecting hardware unit.
These new capabilities will facilitate operators who will be able to offer additional revenue models for the provision of goods and services to the general entertainment and information marketplace.
Basedrive is building upon newly available industry leading interactive digital platforms providing a whole new level of broadband networking services. Enhanced PC functionality delivered via the home video environment makes total sense given the dynamic changes happening in the marketplace.
