Ofcom receives further complaint about Canvas18 August 2010, 5:05 am
IP Vision has formally complained to Ofcom about Project Canvas, the proposed platform that would compete directly with its existing Fetch TV service in the United Kingdom. IP Vision, which is backed by French set-top box company Netgem, says that Canvas will limit competition and distort the market. It is calling on the communications regulator to review whether the planned Canvas joint venture is in breach of competition law....

RTE in Ireland backs MHEG-5 for interactivity5 August 2010, 1:00 pm
RTÉ, the public broadcaster in Ireland, is backing MHEG-5 as the interactive middleware standard for the rollout of its national digital terrestrial television service. The choice follows that of the United Kingdom, while France and Germany are moving forward with HbbTV. Virgin Media calls for Ofcom to investigate Canvas3 August 2010, 6:00 am
Virgin Media is calling on the communications regulator Ofcom and the Office of Fair Trading to investigate Project Canvas on the grounds that it is anti-competitive, restricts consumer choice and jeopardizes the future development of television in the United Kingdom. The cable company is keen to dispel a number of inaccurate assumptions about the proposed broadcast and broadband platform and has stated its concerns in a formal complaint....
